A girl, I was made to be.
I was glad,
I was happy,
to be such a beaituful creature.
I was thankful,
I was humble, to the one Lord,
For giving me rights to be respected.
I was careful,
I was down to earth,
for every precious gem ought to be out of light.
but they always saw me as a tool.
society...
society...
society overlooked my rights,
society demeaned my value,
society put me under their feet,
'I'm a girl and I'm beautiful' I thought.
' you are a girl and you belong to the kitchen' they replied.
I've got to clean while I watch my brothers sleep,
I've got to cook while I see my brothers play,
I've got to wash while I witness my brothers hang out,
And I ask myself 'who entitled this job for me?'
Definitely society did.
This is not my duty, it's my identity,
kindness should not be seen as a weakness.
But you know what?
I'm not going to stay in that cage for long because:
I shall be judged for my brains not my beauty,
I shall be married for my qualities not my abilities,
I shall be respected for who I am not who I'm expected to be,
I'm out of the cage
