“Black Tunnels” (by awesome)

“Black Tunnels” (by awesome)
Deep down in my heart, I’m broken.
My legs are shaking,
My faith can’t carry my worries anymore.

At this point, I’ll admit —
I need help.

Family has failed me,
Friends are gone.
Should I drink my last wine and die?
Maybe then I’d stand face-to-face with my maker,
And ask the questions that never rest:

Why didn’t I get to choose my parents?
Why couldn’t I select my siblings?

I had friends once —
Funny how they act like they understand,
Yet keep adding black to black.

What difference does it make?

I can’t wait for nightfall,
Can’t wait to sleep,
To turn all these thoughts
Into tiny, black, endless tunnels.

But somewhere —
deep inside the silence,
a small voice whispers, “Not yet.”
Because maybe there’s still something left,
Even if it’s just the will
to see another dawn.
