Blemish in the mirror

Ever their greatest critic, an artist damned the masterpiece.  How we were oh so attentive to that smallest detail, that most hidden of flaws.  Seemingly perceptive, our gaze obscured, the haze of self doubt and self deprecation left us blind.
In the clearest of mirrors we would find blemish.
Hiding the truth, our eyes oblivious to a veil of disparaging thought and belittling falacy.  How can we look so hard yet miss the beauty in that reflection?
Squinting through tears we desperately search for silver lining, unknowingly having struck gold.
