Confined was the little blue bird;
Songs sweet though never heard,
For it was caged since birth,
Not knowing of the song's worth.
Blue did it's feathers grew,
Like saddened hues of rue.
Though it's said to bring along
The omens of joy's views.
Perhaps the attempt to harvest joy
Was the reason for it's colour.
If trapped too long in cheerless bounds,
Even glee would lose its luster.
