Bridge The Gap

Dealing with your ignorance,
Takes a new level of tolerance,
As if we haven't suffered enough,
I have to listen to the context of your speaking
Belittling my skin tone,
Disrespecting my heritage,
Tearing down my lineage,
While attempting to raise your race
To a higher plateau,
As if we weren't born equal,
Bleeding the same blood,
Sharing the same builds
Separated by pigment,
So as I stand here in front of you,
Look at me,
Not as an opposite but an equal
Speak to me with dignity,
And you'll be afforded the same respect,
Don't dare speak on the past,
Because I'm moving toward the future
And if your feeble mind,
Can't process evolution,
Then maybe you shouldn't,
Have the slightest idea to share
So with that being said,
I extend to you my hand,
Consider it an olive branch,
As we choose to grow and finally bridge the gap.
