She got that smile, so sweetly illuminating
Like a star up above in a new day dawning
How I wonder though, if behind those lips, those teeth
Are held back curses when, with rage and blues, you seethe
Her eyes are always joyful, they're quite contagious
They fit well with her smiles but she seems oblivious
But what if the joy in her eyes doesn't reflect
The inner things, like a soul sad or a heart wrecked?
One more asset: her long straight hair in glossy black
She flipped it once and I was quite taken aback
But I happened to think if what is now the count
Of her attempts in cutting down her glorious crown
She may be bright on the outside and dark inside
But I see her still beautiful whichever side
And if she turns darker, dear, that would still be fine
For even the blackest of the lovely pearls shine
