Broken ties

We sat, talked, ate laughed together
Smiles our white teeth brightening the day
Our sadness and sorrows left at the door, locked away in the cold
Bold to face another day
Not aware of the morrow
Squeezing through spaces narrow
Big hard rocks burrow
Uncertain yet certain that in some way there was a way away
There we would not stay
We did,say and pray
Each sunrise by the bay
Sun rays parting ways with dawn
Gone are those days
Cracked dry parted clay
Fault lines collapsing at the slightest of tremors
Silent we go on our way
To each other having nothing to say
A rift without a bridge
Hope was our shadow gone with dusk
Questions many still we ask
Till we meet again
