Its a tale of many a woman,
Who got married and their suffering begun,
Being born in a poor family was their only crime,
Their poor father would work hard all their life and would save every dime,
The day she is born, for the parents, it’s the greatest grief,
It’s not that they don’t love her, with hardships they raise her but only once she’s married that they get relief,
But marriage comes with a social evil that’s widely prevalent,
DOWRY, an evil, is thriving, cos the laws to curb and their executor’s are totally negligent,
They aren’t their daughters, why would they care,
Their daughter’s have grand weddings, any amount of expediture they can bare,
My heart breaks for those daughters who in the name of marriages are sold,
Just imagine how happily they must be leaving their parents house towards a new life, unaware what their destiny is going to unfold,
Some are sold as domestic slaves and some in prostitution,
Must they not be missing their poor parents to whom they’ll never return,
And the worst are the cases of dowry deaths, where these poor daughters are brutally burnt,
As a society we should be ashamed on ourselves and should stop calling ourselves human,
A human being turned into ashes, but their greed is still on flame,
Its we who make these greedy customs and traditions, who else are we gonna blame.
