Burning Man

I was born a fire horse
In the sixth month of ‘66
They laid me in a little crib
Below a crucifix.

Laying in that lonely crib
I came to realize
That something in me was different
Cuz’ I had no tears to cry.

Listening to the babies crying
The flames began to burn
And I couldn’t hold back the fire
As others would soon learn.

Inside me the fire burned
As I set fire to the crib
The doctors tried to put me out
While the nurses ran and hid.

My parents came to get me
While the doctor watched with a frown
And they took me from the hospital
So I wouldn’t burn it down.

Eventually I went to school
But the other kids stayed away
Cuz’ the fire in me would burn real hot
Even when I’d play.

Eventually I became a teen
Who didn’t have a friend
No matter how hard I tried not to
I’d burn them in the end.

Soon I became rebellious
And didn’t care who I might hurt
So I’d set the others homes on fire
And burn them to the dirt.

My parents didn’t know what to do
When the fire in me ran wild
But they knew they couldn’t get rid of me
Since they loved their burning child.

Every time I went out
The fire protected me
From those who didn’t understand
Who wouldn’t let me be.

I carried the fire deep inside me
Everywhere I went
And anyone that met me
Knew I was Hell bent.

I let the fire guide me
Just like a beacons light
But everywhere it led me
Would turn into a fight.

I wasn’t safe for anyone
So I never really had a home
But I carried within me my own light
So in the darkness I would roam.

They said when I was old and lonely
That the fires would burn down
And eventually when I passed away
I’d arrive in Satan’s town.

Now I find that I’m not alone
Burning here in hell
Because now the fires are set by me
So that the others burn as well.
