But I Digress

Hold onto the anger that fuels you inside.
Express the torture you try to hide.

Give into the monster they exclaim you are.
Slit their throats if you have to take it that far.

Let them see the creature you have to be.
Only then in that moment can you be free.

You were made this way by today's society.
And they expect you to sway from integrity.

But they built you, molded you into this.
Now the innocent you were does not exist.

You've been forged to lay waste.
And that's all that you know.
Now there is no redemption.
The training's taken its toll.

Calm yourself they beg you.
But you will not give in.
This is what they had trained you.
A soldier to the end.

Forget not your charges.
The dim witted you serve.
While you're gone they all praise you.
As they all sit and observe.

Then you return home, changed.
By wars insanity, consumed.
In the mirror your face is deranged.
And so you hide in your wound.

Lights out, blackened.
Only shadows remain.
But this is the life.
Of a soldier unchained.

So surrender this fight.
Despite all you've been taught.
You have no right.
To continue this onslaught.

Or so they tell you, but you know.
That you can never be freed.
You're a slave to the training.
Whilst watching sanity bleed.
