By the sea

By the sea
The ocean murmured low, a vast
And lonely sound.
Where a small girl sat Upon the empty ground.
She gazed above where stars began to bloom so bright.
And pondered deep within the falling of the night.
Her young heart held the weight of years yet to unfold,
With silent thoughts of futures turning quickly cold.
Shevthought of painful words that echoed in her ear,
And wondered why the world held so much doubt and fear.
She asked the quiet sea what fault within her lay,
That caused such heavy feelings to not drift away.
A tiny voice inside begun to softly blame,
For shadows that pursued her ,whispering her name.
Then rising slowly up,
She felt the cool soft grit,
As grainy sand between her little toes fit.
She turned her gaze toward where the western light did cease,
And watched the sun descend to grant the water at peace.
The dying daylight painted gold,
Across the blue expanse, A final, fleeting, beautiful and
Hopeful glance.
