Why can't I say anything, oh why,
When words get caught in throat, they die,
Thoughts go circling in my mind,
But in my mouth, they're left behind.
I try to speak, to let you know,
The things I feel, they're ready to flow,
But a silent barrier holds them tight,
And keeps them locked, out of sight.
Is it fear that keeps my voice at bay?
Am I afraid of what you'll say?
Or is it doubt that clouds my trust,
Leaving my words crumbled to dust?
I watch as others freely express,
Their thoughts and feelings, no stress,
Their words dance boldly through the air,
While mine lay dormant, unaware.
So bear with me, as I find my way,
To speak my thoughts, come what may,
For in the silence, I still remain,
Searching for words to break the chain
