As someone who has experienced the ups and downs of the foster care system, I can confidently say that the best advice I have to give is this: never give up.
I know it can be easy to feel worthless when you're in foster care. You may have been taken away from your family, your friends, your home. You may feel like you don't belong anywhere. But I promise you, that is not the case.
You are not worthless. You are not less than. You are a person with a unique set of strengths and abilities. And those strengths and abilities can take you far in life.
When I was in foster care, there were times when I wanted to give up. Times when I felt like no one cared about me, like I was just a number in the system. But I kept going. I kept fighting. And it paid off.
I was able to finish school and go on to college. I found a career that I love. I built relationships with people who truly care about me. And it's all because I never gave up.
So my advice to you, fellow foster child, is this: keep going. Keep fighting. Never think that you are worthless, because you are not. You are capable of great things. And you deserve to achieve them
