I am a care home worker
I love the job I do
I work all night and sleep all day
Just to get me through.
I wear my tunic with such pride
This is my destiny
The well being of the residents
Is absolutely key.
I tuck them up into bed
And watch them through the night
We do our checks religiously
Until the morning light.
It's time to start and wake them
To get them washed and dressed
And take them to the dining room
For chats and their breakfast.
And now it's time to say goodbye
See you all tonight
I will be back to tuck you up in bed
Until the morning light
