Castle

I clasp wet sediment in clumps with knuckle white digits.
I use it to start building my sandcastle
One handful at a time until its whole again
And I can finally start to smile again
But over night a windstorm ravages the shore.
My castle topples, spilling its foundation to earth.
Defeated, I reach for more sand, but its dry.
It trickles through my hands, coating the ground.
The foundation is too weak and measly
It can't support it and neither can I
The tide is out and the water is too far to venture for.
Why couldn't the storm cease before my sand became arid?
Now my sandcastle is left in a lump
And I wait patiently for the rain and tide
So that it may be wet and strong enough to build
And my smile can return again.
