Walking slowly to the ledge
Promised as I was to the edge
I would walk down and fall
I knew it and willed myself to heed the call.
Promised as I was to the edge
I walked and walked till noon
Then till dusk then dawn till noon again
I would see the end today I promised at noon.
So I kept walking, and walking
I got to the edge and willed myself off the ledge
So I jumped but my feet were stuck
Bewildered as I was
I did it again, I jumped.
But I never left the ledge
When I would try it again,
I heard someone come in
I knew He was there
When I turned to look,
I heard Him say:
I love you
I want you
You are mine
Come.
And I found that my feet would move to Him
My feet that would not jump would move to Him
I was there before I could will my feet to stop
I was by His side
And I felt a warmth I had not felt in all my days of walking
So I held unto Him
And He lifted me
I rose like an edifice-higher and higher-
And then I was back at the ledge;
And I jumped before I could think,
Before I could will myself to stop
But I would not fall
I knew that If He loves me
I would not fall
So I held His word to Him
And He caught me
So I flew higher and higher
I rose.
I would fall without Him
but now I Soar with Him.
