One had the obsession with the future
Never actually in tune with the present
Always wondering on "what next"
Yet never seeming how to act on "what now"
Another had the obsession with the present
My type of person, my vibe as I would have it
Yet never caring of what could be
Well not past the little things
Not enough to keep me in place
I wanted what had been,
What is, alongside what could be
With the first I had what could be
Oh what plans she had,
Mighty were they that,
They could keep the fire of curiosity burning in me
Yet not giving enough to what had been taken from what could be
This I never found joy in
The next big thing couldn't stay as the "big thing" for more than a fleeting moment
This dulled my inner child
Always wanting to know how it worked and what it could do
The second, oh this was the best
But only for a fleeting moment of joy
Never what one would want to go long hours with
As with all things that interest, a break is needed to see what things to work on
Not much could be said for this than an arching back
And a thrusting hip, I needed more than just this
Along came you, the journey of you excited me so much so
That reliving in that past memory was like second nature to me
Having lots of key moments, one would dare not forget
But living in the past was just one part of the deal with you
Those key moments became the fire for much more "moments" to create and keep
Letting me bask in your presence with growing admiration and yearn I became obsessed
I became what I'd feared the most, one looking for "the next big thing"
Yet I could never let go of my past with you
