Chappel Street

Chappel Street
I first moved on this street everybody was staring. Walking down the street vibes of no one caring. Thugs standing in front of my old apartment building. Hearing gun shots and looking out the window because of a killing. Low lives selling drugs in front of my face. Neighbors throwing garbage out of their windows creating waste. When the police came gangs ran like roaches when the lights came on. I know this was the neighborhood I didn't belong. Drug dealers sleeping in the hallway. This gave me more reasons not to stay. Always looking over my shoulder walking out the door. That neighborhood was so violent I couldn't walk to the store. Couldn't even bring my daughter around. And it made me walk around with a scowl and frown. Folks on the porch talking loud. Conversations between two people sounded like a crowd. I won't ever forget this neighborhood. Memories of it where never good. Everybody has a story to tell. Rather their experience felt like heaven or hell.
