Colors from four walls
clash screaming at one
another to cover up or
go away
Drapes on vintage pull cords hidden away calling me to
find them seeking solace
around my neck
Like a silk scarf it's coolness reminds me of a matching handbag with the toggle
like clasp I hated so much
the way they crossed over
each other like lovers
sickening
Skeleton keys hang from a
rusty lock sharp edges smell
of tetanus through my nose
it rails on my temples forcing
me to shake it off like a dog infested with ear mites
moaning with satisfaction
and pain as they dig to the
inner drum
Clanging outside beyond
the lead pane windows
disturbs the sleeping dead
The rustling of white stockings with garter belts in all sizes
play hide and seek through
my mind trying to match
the belt with the correct set
of hips kept me busy for
awhile standing zombie like hypnotized by my disgusting fantasy
Flashing by the window
shining off the particles
of light that managed to
escape the sign reads
Beaverton Sanitarium
it seems I may have been
here before or did I
ever leave
