Christmas
The month of December I dread
God knows how much money I have to spend maybe a month's pay
It's too much, it just goes to my head
It's all too expensive these days
The expense of buying presents
Buying gifts that they don't want or need
Me I'd be happy walking in a field with pheasants
Or sat in my corner on a chair with a good book to read
They would rather be sat round the tree drinking wine
All I want is my family around me
So why do they ask me what I want all the time?
Chatting and playing board games is what I see
Kids these days don't understand the true meaning of it
But maybe that's our generation's fault for not spreading the word
We were taught to be thankful and listen and sit
To be seen and not heard
What is the real reason of Christmas I've heard different things
We should celebrate and be grateful for the time we have
Am not bothered by what Santa brings
Just stick me in a nice hot bubble bath
Think of all the children around the globe
Some may struggle to even find food to eat
Why we so bothered with our wardrobe
Some may not even have enough heat
As we sit around enjoying Christmas lunch
Think of the ones who are alone
As we are enjoying our Christmas punch
Think of the ones who are just skin and bone
We all take for granted each and every one of us do it
We think of ourselves and people around us
We all concentrate on ourselves and wallow in our own pit
We can make such a big fuss
We are considered very lucky and safe
We don't have to find shelter, warmth and food
We have our beliefs and faith
We don't let it spoil our mood
But is it just Christmas when family gather together?
It shouldn't be this way
We have our families forever
So why do we do it just for one day?
