You didn't realize it, did you?
You didn't realize those moments you were fighting your little siblings for the front seat
or those times you pretended to be asleep
pulling into the driveway just so your parents could carry you inside.
You didn't realize that it would be the last…
You didn't realize the moments you would always cry when your parents would wash away the only stuffed animal you had
because you felt like they were washing away all the memories.
You didn't realize the times when you were younger and people would ask you what you wanted to be when you were older.
You, replying with something you think now is nothing near what you wanted to be….
Saying something like “O, I want to be a fire-fighter!”
Or maybe you wanted to be like Ariana Grande, or maybe a doctor….
Regardless of what you wanted to be, you always had a spark in your eyes talking about it…..
You didn't realize you were growing up so fast….
You didn't realize the moments going by… nor did you cherish them.
No one can save you, not even a time machine.
Sure you're just teenagers
you still have years to figure yourself out…
But you're just so naive….
It's a lost cause!
These shallow waters are a reminder of what you will never get to experience again.
A reminder of the pain and residue of moments when you were happier;
A breath of fresh air..
Memories flowing in with every breath…
Your heart and mind were so different as a kid,
Now your heart is delicate,
like a piece of glass.
Your mind?
A piece of topaz
So fragile,
Yet so resilient.
You didn't realize that at the time you would focus on becoming a firefighter, or like Ariana Grande, maybe even a doctor.
Now, you just sit around playing video games, pulling all nighters.
Now, you hang out with friends, grow up too fast, making irrational decisions.
Now it hits you… like a spark of Deja vu.
Now, you realize… Don't you?
