Consoling my grieving heart
Could've been my world
That was torn all apart
What if that had been you?
Who'd been suddenly taken away
And I was the one left behind
Pleading and praying for you to stay
The scare that startled you in December
Left a sorrowful scar on my heart
How could I bear such agony
Knowing we would forever be apart?
I would have been the one
Refusing to believe the truth
Paralyzed, in deep despair
Mourning our adulthood and youth
So, inwardly, I struggle
Confronting my fear and anxiety
Witnessing the devastation I would face
Had you been taken away from me
