I come across
pets pass away,
but nothing like how yours was.
I would give anything to hold
your collar again.
the collar once covered with your
beautiful fur.
to hold you
in my arms once again
to pet your belly like I did that one last day,
the day I slept through not ever knowing it would be your last.
so I hold you in my arms in spirit
wishing I couldve given your life,
so much more than I had.
I know you loved me so dearly
and I would give anything to hold you
close to my heart once again.
I write this poem
hoping you'll sit by me while it pools in my mind.
holding the stuffed animal version of you
closer than ever to my heart.
