T

Close your eyes, so you might see through mine

We were given lessons on faiths
For worry where our paths lay
So if we walk among the wraiths
We might find a way
They then lectured on peace
As we realized we were alone
As we were given to the streets
And forced to fend for our own
We have learned to hide
We learned to never confide
Since we were pushed aside
We've kept all that locked inside
We have all heard of war
No matter the form
Yet instead of looking at the stars
We were blinded by the storm
Our generation was called arrogant
Or prideful, depressed, obsessed
Yet yours has found many a tyrant
And we see how far you have regressed
Our generation is broken
That much is true
At least we remain outspoken
That is a rarity among you
Three things cannot long be hidden
The sun, the moon and the truth
And your truth reveals itself unbidden
Yet you think us uncouth
I wish you would close your eyes
Perhaps then you would see
Just how much I despise
How little you know about me.
