What do you do when your home becomes your Fort.
When the shadows of the day became the darkness that lurks outside.
Through barred windows you face the dark with the light that never goes out.
The ever blinding light that dulls the eyes and the mind as well.
The lights too bright within the Fort and you wonder if you’ll ever see or think again.
And so you find that the darkness is necessary to give your eyes and mind a rest.
Then you carefully open the door to the darkness and the shadows flow inside your defenses.
At first you cringe in fear as shadows spread throughout your Fort.
So many times you’ve been hurt by the darkness that surrounds both in and out.
So you gingerly slip into the shadows to see if you will be hurt again.
But as you sit back in the shadows you once again begin to see the colors of this life.
Colors of bright energy of vibrant greens blues purples and pinks.
And after a time you come to realize that there are those who hide in the dark.
In their darkness they hide from the light because it lays them bare for the world to see.
But the darkness took away the colors in their lives and left them cowering from the light.
Like you they realized that they needed something to bring the colors back.
And so they came into the light and in a short time begin to see the colors too.
Like with you what once had truly scared them all became their saving grace.
And so you share with them the light and they with you the dark.
And with the help of both the light and dark everyone’s world becomes a better place.
