P

come back to bed

Puddles of dreams
Evaporate as the gentle sunrise
Whispers,
beckoning us to start our day.
It traces your shoulder blades
And forms a path directly leading to a second sunrise--
Your eyes open.
These moments I remember,
Dreaming of the unformed void of the future
The anxiety-inducing uncertainty that claws at youth and recedes mortality, then
Waking up to a certain kind of comfort. Better than words-- your scent
These moments I remember
Along with memories that never happened. Cloud-like moments
Soft on the heart and heavy with regret that our day never actually started.
So come back to bed my love, it'll be different this time. I promise.
