In a world that boasts of belonging,
A community of acceptance was beckoning.
But as I stepped into its vibrant embrace,
A bitter truth unfolded, leaving a bitter taste.
The words whispered softly, "You're one of us",
But behind the facade, acceptance was a fuss.
Their smiles concealed a judgmental gaze,
A community that left my heart in a daze.
They promised refuge, a safe haven to share,
Yet their walls grew higher, leaving me in despair.
My differences, they sliced through the air,
Rejection's sting, too heavy to bear.
In this sea of faces, a lonely soul I stood,
Yearning for warmth, for love understood.
But like a lone wolf howling in the night,
My voice got lost in the darkness, out of sight.
I questioned my worth, my place in this scheme,
Was I not deserving of their acceptance, it seemed.
Yet deep within, a flicker of strength still burned,
A fire of resilience, refusing to be spurned.
I walked away from their hollow facade,
Acceptance is not born within a charade.
For true belonging resides in authentic hearts,
Where differences are celebrated, not torn apart.
I wish I wasn't torn apart by the ones that betrayed me.
