COMPASSION

Once there were two devout men who always went to the temple for prayers ceremony.
They knew each other in passing only, for both attended the services at the same temple.
On one day the both rushed from their houses to the temple. The first man encounters a crippled mendicant who asked him to help him reach the water fountain to drink water, the man passed him in a huff, murmuring to self he would be late for prayers.
The other man came by the same mendicant, who also asked for help since he had no use of his legs and couldn't reach the fountain. The man stopped, cupped his hands and filled them from the fountain and gave the beggar to drink until the beggar was full, and continued to the temple knowing well he was late for the temple ceremony.
The first man received not one copper for his prayers. Whereas the second, received all the heavenly blessings plus one ( the beggar's).
