Dead Man's Chest

When I was but a roaming ark
you blessed my sails,
outshone the dark
your gentle song became my wind
whose words would flow,
where sunshine hid
and as I trailed your silver spear
I found my Eden,
on your frontier
your turquoise hands embodied grace
as they repieced,
my ravaged face
I dropped my anchor where you crawl
to drown my fear,
and root my soul
the sands would hug my broken feet
absolving my flesh,
of every defeat
I tried to sink anyway, but I was afloat
upheld by your pearls,
that cuddled my throat
and I was able to see what lay in your trove
an army of diamonds,
on a midnight grove
all I could do was tremble in awe
as the very first breath,
entered my jaw
you gave tide to my lungs and moons to my eyes
and you did it all,
with a glimpse of your guise
and they took me from you
beasts that you cursed to hide from your gaze
the bad and the worse that glutton my days
they chained me in memory and stole what you gave me
they told me I'm worthless for praising your shapings
but now I'm awakened with my knife in their breast
repaying their bloodshed til you lay me to rest
cursing and spitting on their newborn regret
until you embrace me and make me forget
now I'm a pirate, all rage and no mercy
boarding and sinking,
all vessels unworthy
for the sake of your beauty and all of its gleam
that I with my crimes,
strive to redeem
and though I blaspheme you by sailing so low
I hope you still feel me,
for I want you to know
that if this carnage would see me undone
you are the only,
that I've ever loved.
