Dear Society

You stand there
with a cliche
drawn to my head
as if it were a gun.
my sense of direction
lost to your tricks of the trade
and your quick wit
with a whip that slowly marked my back with words and phrases
calling me imperfect because my body shape was not stick-thin or curvy in just the right places.
Now you stand there
waiting for a response
that will never come
because my responses are meant for people who are worth my time
and worth my effort to fix wrongs
or to find something deep within me to break it off and you are neither.
Because you are neither worth my time or worth the effort. and now you pull the trigger over and over you lash out at me before delivering your final blow to discover you didn't even scratch my surface. So I'm free now.
