I am so mortal,
I'll die tomorrow.
No matter how long I live,
that statement will always be real.
Will alway be truth,
to my death seeking ears.
For,
to not be eternal,
is to live absent fear.
For,
to fear death,
is to fear what's already here.
One lives absent knowledge
of the next second.
And,
still find themselves,
unable to be present.
Thy presence is one's greatest weapon.
For one to relinquish,
is to make self irrelevant.
As,
one seeks only to be more,
to walk through societal doors.
In hopes you endure,
and gain more and more.
To exist such as this,
is to give power to things,
and social climbing.
To have a need to be seen,
in society highly.
I wonder,
to dictate happiness based off conformative traits,
is that what one means by the American dream?
To be a being slowly dying.
As one smiles in faces,
to appease society.
As one works tirelessly,
just to die,
on Friday.
