T

deciduous

In the beginning,
Green as new grass,
I learned to love
Your presence next to me.
We shared secrets
With birds and caterpillars,
Learning each other's language
Till you turned red
And I turned gold.
Then,
Finally,
We fell.
You landed in soft soil,
Camouflaged
From destructive footsteps.
I landed among the weeds,
Who have no concept
Of "deciduous",
Who only keep growing
Till summer's heat
Turns them
The same shade of brown.
