You were hurt long ago.
Hurt so deep so strong
you ran away from anything
that could ever touch you like that again.
You took your heart and built for it
a tower so tall it shoots up to the sky
blackening the stars in its way.
To leave a tower defenseless is absurd
so you made ready all manner of hindrances for any who should seek your love.
A moat to embrace the tower tall with vicious beasts within.
A dragon strong perched apon the turret.
And walls so thick without a door the elements could not harm.
For ages now for heart was held above the world locked away.
None deserved a prize as precious as you.
Yet I have come through your dragon's fire.
I forded the water and survived the beasts within. No longer shall a dragon's roar be heard apon this scene.
And now I work patiently pulling stones away.
Taking down your palisade brick by grueling brick. Longing for the day when I can hold your heart.
