DEPRESSION

Hi, it's me again,
but this time it's a revelation,
I'm still talking about depression,
and it's not my imagination,
I've been thinking about a nation,
so filled with determination,
aiming for goals with a passion,
but forgetting about depression.
What happens is a second story,
everyone is told not to worry,
and trying to explain is a long journey,
but what of the untold truths that keep on hurting,
the broken hearts that try repairing,
the painful scars that reject healing,
the mental image that keeps on repeating,
the message and words that keep on replaying,
the unwanted past that keeps on rewinding,
unexpected pressure that keeps on pilling,
social media that's daily discouraging,
insecurities are everyday building and social misfits being the name they are left with.
Daily breaking and hurting and added pain,
is all they cannot explain,
in their world it always rains,
their hoodies are covering wails,
but everyone calls them insane,
forgetting that mental health exits and depression is not extinct.
I think of a victor but remember the victim,
the one so engrosed in pain that everyone forgets him,
the loud voices that daily mislead him,
unwanted memories that leave him tearing,
drawn from the world he keeps on thinking,
convincing himself that he should give in.
I'm not being gender specific,
but I'm pointing out they go through this too,
raising awareness is the best I can do,
depression is real, don't let it get to you too.
