Dinner for Four

In an empty room.
At an empty table.
I dine tonight.
Depression at my left.
Anxiety to my right.
Tomorrow in front of me.
Yesterday behind.
Maybe I can change.
Maybe that's what I lack.
Maybe it's not just me.
Maybe it's the whole world that's gone whack.
I'm no better than you.
I was never better.
I don't want your opinion.
Your opinion changes like the weather.
As my guests begin to gnash their teeth.
I cannot speak.
I no longer hear remorse in their intentions.
As they consume me from four directions.
