Do I Walk?

Dark hallways, icy feeling
Breathing, anticipating
Shaking deep in my being
Lights off, I see you
Lights on, there's nothing
Nothing, but the feel of my feet
Nothing, but the adjustment of my eyes
And maybe, just maybe you're there
So do I keep walking?
Do I keep walking forward in this?
In all this darkness?
For what and why?
You're all I see, regardless
Walking through you,
Next to you; with you
So even as all I do,
May it be a glass of water in the night,
Or even a shower with the door locked,
Be all it is.
You're there.
And maybe if I blink enough,
Just maybe,
You'll disappear.
And sometimes, you do fade away.
Realizing no one you're only a fear.
So I drink that glass of water,
I take that shower.
And I breathe,
Breathe in so hard,
And pretend everything is okay.
