Have you ever broken down in misery
Without acknowledging the reason as to why?
When something so cruel happens to you
That, while in shock, you can only deny?
You're just left clutching your sides in agony
As your very body and soul is tearing apart.
Your core being is now cold and unidentifiable
And your blood feels like lead in your broken heart.
I bet that you cannot even begin to imagine
What that soul-crushing emotion is like to feel,
But in this joyless world - let me tell you -
That feeling is the only thing that's real.
So when I'm lying in this curled up position;
Broken down, screaming with a silent voice,
Do not lightly come up to me
And say that happiness is a choice.
