Do You Ever Regret Choosing Me
Do you ever regret choosing me,
On the days I’m more questions than answers,
More silence than song,
More weight than wings?
Do you regret the hands you held
When they were shaking?
The nights you stayed up
Translating my storms into prayers?
The love you poured into cracks
That kept opening anyway?
I see it sometimes —
The tired in your eyes when I spiral again.
The pause before you say “it’s okay.”
The way you carry me and still wonder
If I’m too heavy to keep carrying.
If you do regret me, I’d understand.
I’m not easy.
I’m not the version of me you dreamed of at the start.
I’m the version still learning how to stay.
Still learning how to believe I’m worth the choosing.
But if you don’t —
If on the days I’m broken you still say “mine,”
If on the days I’m quiet you still listen for me,
If on the days I doubt us you still choose us —
Then let that be the miracle.
That love didn’t wait for me to be whole.
That you saw the mess and called it home.
That you looked at all my unfinished parts
And said, “I’ll stay until they bloom.”
So no, don’t tell me I’m perfect.
Tell me you’re not leaving.
Tell me choosing me wasn’t a mistake,
Even on the days I feel like one.
Tell me again.
And I’ll spend my life becoming
Someone worth that second, third, and hundredth yes.
