I am not a girl,
I'm just too bold,
Trying to get through as a woman,
Acting strong for my family.
I break down in silence,
Seeing my kids home for school fees
Destroys me completely,
My husband is never supportive all he does is just drink.
Being the first born,
I had to take responsibility,
I became a mother as early as ten,
Even before giving birth.
I've always been responsible
Raised my siblings like my own kids,
Struggled to make sure everyone ate,
Even though it meant I slept on an empty stomach.
I hide my tears,
No one sees me tear,
I'm depressed,
And I carry it all inside.
I do all it takes,
I cross all bridges
Make all kind of sacrifices
As long as they are happy
It's worth everything I do.
I'm just a mother,
An elder sister,
An aunt,
And a cousin,
Doing all it takes for my loved ones.
I must be strong for them,
Them that look up to me,
I sell my self so they have all they need,
You see me on the streets don't point fingers at me,
That's my hustle yours doesn't help me.
