Dreams and Nightmares

It was a windy night when my sister came to me,
she told me of her nightmare as I put her on my knee.
I said nightmares were just dreams though twisted in places,
they're nothing compared to the horror you get from some people's faces.
My sister nodded and hugged me tight,
heading to bed with a quick goodnight.
I smiled to myself as I thought of my nights,
all of the nightmares that gave me frights.
As I grow older I start to understand why,
some of my nightmares were so bad that they made me cry.
Real life is way worse then what was in my head,
it scared me at first that I couldn't just hide in my bed.
I realised nightmares help even if they give you a scare,
if you think hard enough about them you'll find the advice they share.
They teach you lessons that no one else could,
to deal with the problems that no one but you should.
So during the night whether you have one nightmare or three,
real life is twice as scary and those nightmares are the key.
