Each Second Defines

I have always been selfish with time.
And,
for that reason,
I've never attempted to try.
For,
trying to me,
meant something must be known,
within the mind.
That whatever was to be gained,
would never not be,
worth my time.
These lines are the only thing,
I've found to exist as such.
Not love,
nor money.
Simply these words I've conjured up.
In truth,
I once thought,
existing as such was not enough.
But,
young I was.
Too young to comprehend,
life's purest thoughts.
To understand moments last longer,
when you're truly lost in each one.
To know what to seize,
who to love.
To see time,
as us.
One's mind is not brittle,
we simply see and experience too much.
Forced to see time as,
up.
Never enough.
The things I see in a second.
The pain in eyes,
the joy seen in a mother's cry.
The playful banter within love's design.
All seen in seconds,
all existing in such exemplary,
time.
