Today I yearned for bygone days,
To trace through memory's vibrant maze,
Both joyous light and sorrow's haze.
To greet the dawn of ages gold,
Hear tales of conflict, brave and bold,
What hues the earth and sky did hold.
Yet understanding starts to bloom,
That future's path dispels the gloom,
Escaping history's shadowed room.
For 400 years in contemplation's thrall,
Cannot rebuild what stood so tall,
