Once I was proud of this land
This country I used to defend
A place of justice, freedom unlimited
Where rights were upheld and defended
Yet now I'm ashamed of the state we're in
Where diversity is seen as a sin
Where voices cry out in fear and dread
At the thought of something different ahead
The color of skin, the gender we pursue
The love that we choose, all seen as taboo
My heart cries out to the reactionary force
That believes only white and Christian is the proper course
I still stand in support of the ones who care
For those in the queer, trans, and the fair
I support the ones who don't quite conform
To the norms of outdated, forgotten norms
This anger wells up so deep inside
For the continued ignorance and pride
Of those who have forgotten their own freedoms
The powers, great and small, who still oppress us all.
