Enough is Enough

I remember being waken up in the middle of the night
my sister rushed with me outside
I was disoriented and confused
what is going on?
I asked myself
my sister kept on mumbling meaningless words
I looked at her but I saw nothing
my senses were closed but for my ears
all I could hear was my mother's cries
and the pounding against her flesh
I was five years old
and this became our family anthem
to a point,I felt nothing
it was normal after all
but I remember the day I felt again
I was seventeen in my final year at senior school
the moment I heard the shouting, the cries, the pounding
it was like a volcano erupted within me
a red faze engulfed me as I rushed to my parents' room
I stood in the middle of the room
and I forgot how to speak
the only words I could utter were
ENOUGH is ENOUGH
again and again I shouted
enough is enough.
