I have become an unfriendly home
Housing anger like a pet
Begging the unlit corners
To be less/ surly
I notice the bed I never made
Unsure of my angle
I ignore the imprint my hand leaves
Fingers outlined on the sheets
I want to be the glowing house
The one you see from space in winter
I want my lights in neon
Lit up on that yule tree
Confident in my warmth
Unaware of the snow around me
Lined with snowmen wrapped in scarves
An army under my command
But
I recognize the clouds forming
Street lights on
Screaming with electricity
At the end of my cul de sac
Beginning to flood
No moat to protect the inhabitants
