Escape From Chiraq (journey to Florida)

On the brink again, ol' school Power like Ice T's first album, hoping I don't sink again,
Surviving Tall Tales of wet Whales on a journey to think again,
Running from the past so be quick, Ships Ahoy avoiding my future being fucked by Moby's dick,
Setting sail with a broken compass, my hopes and dreams my only accomplice, slapping it's side to avoid being shipwrecked and reaching shore as a living broken promise,
My hopes and wishes are just like broken dishes, sitting on the dock of the bay with a stringless pole, shook with no hook, a fish story with no fishes,
Putting life together like a puzzle piece by piece, I can never get the corners right, just hoping I get the count right at least,
Damn the streets, even after I claimed I Am the streets, bragging about murders and how I never got hit, haunted by ghosts nightly in the corner to remind me that after all this time I'm still not shit,
Playing the victim of the victimized, even after what I did to them guys, I'm ignoring my blood soaked hands, still coping, still hoping no one sees the gun still smoking, still poking out from under my shirt that I bought an extra size to conceal just in case something happened like this, times changed like the wind from back then because no one uses their fists,
A penny with a hole in it, "In God We Trust" misspelled on a counterfeit dollar bill with a crooked fold in it,
It don't mean shit when you still 85 cents short after all this time, only able to hustle up a nickel and dime,
Throwing up peace signs in a land where they can't see signs like an underpaid Mime in front of a crowd that's blind,
Just hoping you made it, but right before you're congratulated you're assassinated just like they did King that time,
Somewhere I lost track, but jumped off a ghost train with ghost pains heading towards the city of Chiraq,
Dusting my pants off excusing the bruising, walking in a different direction with a different stride after the ride, knowing I'll miss the land but smiling, knowing I'll never go back after seeing a better side,
These Palm Trees calm me, keeping the street smarts that got me this far and raised me, thinking rationally now, I can't save anyone until I save me.
Goodbye Chicago.
