Even wounds leave scars,
To remind you the past still breathes beneath your skin.
And yet, you thought I could suffocate mine,
After you fed it with your venoms and vows,
Until the echo in me grew too wild for you to cage.

Then, calling me the one who screamed,
You cast me into the shadows where your sins could hunt me unseen.
You hurled me into the dark,
Hoping it would finish what your hands could not.

But when your nights grew restless,
You crawled back to the same darkness that had devoured me,
Searching for the version of me you always wished for.
And even if she ever lived,
You should know

Even wounds leave scars.
And scars do not fade.
They wait.
They do not forget
They savor every moment
Till their truth slips into your gaze and rot quietly.
