I found the sun sinking soft into night,
Its beauty glimmering like a river of light.
I laid myself down on the quiet vale floor,
My arms as my pillow, where shadows pour.
I gazed long and deep with a hungry heart’s ache,
At moonbeams burning, vivid, awake.
A love that does not die, nor ever decay,
That outlives a thousand years’ slow, sad sway.
I’ll linger here still, ‘til the fields breathe and sigh,
