evil doesn't have a color
it doesn't see age, or race
evil only see opportunity
in an innocent face.
evil cannot stand to see
happiness or peace;
it will not stop
until joy has to cease,
until tears mar our eyes
and all hope is void.
evil is opportunistic.
evil seeks only to destroy.
it can live in any heart;
it can thrive in any skin.
it cannot be paused or stopped;
it will rise and rise again.
this may sound like a funeral dirge.
you might ask me, why try?
why should should we struggle
against a foe who never dies?
but let me remind you, there is life.
where there is life, you find hope.
hope gives birth to happiness.
happiness helps us cope.
that coping leads to strength
and strength, to caring in turn.
and that caring leads to goodness--
a fire inside that burns and burns.
evil cannot stop the good;
it lives in every heart.
good is in each of us,
but we have to do our part.
goodness doesn't see color.
it doesn't see age or race.
good only sees opportunity
to bring a smile to another face.
