Fairy tales made me believe
In true love and happy ever after
How I wish I knew then
That it takes more than just losing glass shoes
Or eating poisoned apples
Or sleeping a thousand years
To find true love and happiness.
Fairy tales taught me to fall in love
And trust in the magic of make believe
That I just have to wait
For my prince to come
And sweep me off my feet.
I have kissed a few frogs
But they haven't turned into princes
Or knight in shining armors
Instead they became cold statues
Who woke me up from my illusions
That I am not a princess in a fairy tale
Because all I have is a "Once upon a time" love affair
And it's not meant to be a happily ever after.
